Attire: Wear whatever you feel comfortable in, but know that you will be on your knees often. So something that covers the knee would be good.
Meet Cesar Cabrera
Cesar is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under the Renzo Gracie lineage. His training and breadth of experiences extends over 30 years. He is a true believer that making the decision to pursue the journey of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu changed his life. Now, he spreads his knowledge to each of the students that are a part of the grappling program.
From the time he discovered Kung Fu movies at a neighborhood theater when he was five, Cesar Cabrera knew he wanted to be a martial arts master. As a young kid, he trained on his own, modeling himself after his hero Bruce Lee, until he had the opportunity to wrestle in middle school. In high school Cesar studied Kung Fu and competed in Friday night fights at his martial arts school. Later, Cesar moved to Miami where he continued training and fighting while also learning anatomy, teaching kickboxing, and working as a personal trainer, including with celebrities who flew him all over the country to train with them. In Miami, Cesar discovered that fighters who beat him did it with Jiu-Jitsu, so he moved to New York to study with the Gracie family, who popularized Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the US. He earned his black belt and traveled the world teaching. Cesar has been teaching grappling at EvolveAll since YEAR, rooted in the belief that the skills required by Jiu-Jitsu, including coordination, breathing, learning how to fall, and overcoming insecurities, benefit all kids. Cesar’s vision is to expand his teaching at EvolveAll to other martial arts schools, training other instructors to implement his Jiu-Jitsu curriculum. Cesar is married to Jennifer, an emergency room nurse, and the couple has two-year-old twins who are often seen on and off the mat at EvolveAll.
I’ve studied under Cesar any time I’ve had the chance over the last five years, and benefited enormously from his teaching. As a smaller person I’ve loved his technical perspective. As a human, Cesar has really helped me to grow as a person through the art of Jiu jitsu, which, as he teaches it, is truly an all-encompassing form of self defense and high level grappling.Daniel Finn Metcalf
I know Cesar for few years now and I can say with all certainty that he is one of the best teachers that I have met in my life of MA. Not only you can get a good insight into technical aspect of this subtle and brainy art but also into its philosophy and life application. The man has talent for teaching; sometimes in an hour session you can get months worth of material whether you are new to it or already spent some years studying. His classes are always challenging and enlightening.Dimitri Vesensky
