When you are trying to be healthy, eating out can pose a challenge. How do you know what to order or which choices on the menu would be best for your personal goals?
EvolveAll and Columbia Pike Partnership have teamed up to profile several local restaurants and ask our fitness team for recommendations on what to eat. We hope this will provide helpful guidance so that you can enjoy a night out with friends without compromising your healthy living goals.
Los Chamacos at 922 S Walter Reed Drive is a family-friendly Mexican restaurant with traditional Mexican flavors and innovative selections like their birria pizza. Making its start as a food truck, founders Chef Benedict Yanez and his wife Jessica Yanez opened Los Chamacos (“the kids”) in 2021. When it comes to the kitchen, they believe “hard work betrays no one.” That’s a sentiment we can get behind! They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as great margaritas!
We asked EvolveAll Instructor Soupar Sovidaray to make a recommendation on what to order at Los Chamachos to support your nutrition and fitness goals. Soup is certified as a trainer by the National Academy of Sports and Medicine with over 15 years of experience. Soup leads our popular Fitness Bootcamp program and offers personal training at EvolveAll.
When it comes to ordering at Los Chamacos, Soup says, “Fajitas are the best.” Fajitas have lean protein like chicken, beef, or shrimp. They’re also loaded with vegetables, including bell peppers and onions, which provide vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Fajitas are also grilled, which makes them healthier than some of the other fried items on the menu. Soup says, “You can do it with tortillas or not. Without tortillas you get protein and fiber from the meat and veggies. With tortillas you’ll get more carbs.”
You can make it a family night out at Los Chamacos without getting your goals off course.
