We’re happy to spotlight another of our EvolveAll families. Each member of the Midboe family participates in programs at EvolveAll. Meet Erica, Per, Per David, and Michaela. We chatted about discovering martial arts, favorite memories, love for the outdoors, and community.
The Midboe family has participated in so many of our programs over the years, from Youth Martial Arts to Tai Chi to Boxing to Jiu Jitsu. How did your family first become involved at EvolveAll?
Many years ago, Michaela attended a martial arts themed birthday party. She came home very excited. She was so excited that she also got Per David hyped up. The kids asked to try some classes, so we asked some friends for recommendations. They sent us to EvolveAll, and we’ve been enjoying all that EvolveAll is and has to offer ever since.
Any favorite memories you’d like to share?
There are many good memories at EvolveAll, and we look forward to collecting more. In particular, Michaela remembers performing with the demo team, and Per David remembers helping friends with moves and growth ceremonies. Both kids remember how it felt to finally break a board that had been a struggle for them. As parents, we also love the incredible growth ceremonies. It is always so inspiring to see the kids throughout the community persevere and overcome particularly hard board-breaks.
How has practicing martial arts influenced your family.
Practicing martial arts has helped shape (and continues to shape) Per David and Michaela throughout the years, in both their physical and mental abilities. As parents, we have appreciated those lessons and supported them at home. We have particularly appreciated the time and energy the instructors have put into guiding our children to grow and mature.
Tell us a little about your lives outside of the studio.
The Midboes like outdoor activities such as camping, kayaking, hiking, biking, and gardening. We also love our pets Marmalade, Ragnar, Aristotle, and Lizzy.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of EvolveAll?
Community. EvolveAll is always a welcoming, positive place that is filled with hugs and support. EvolveAll has been instrumental in developing new friendships outside of school for Michaela and Per David. It is always a joy to walk into the studio and recharge with such a positive community of friends.
“I knew EvolveAll was the right fit for us after my son told me that yes, it was hard work and he’s very tired after every class but he really, really likes it. And I should mention that my sons both think the staff are total rockstars! I highly recommend EvolveAll.”
